How much electric power (at what cost?) to run a water circulating pump for a small garden gold-fish pond?

gold fish pond
Shannon asked:

The pump runs 24 hours a day. I am wondering the probable cost per day. And — if you know — will it harm the pump to turn it off for a week at a time? I don’t know the size of the pump as it is at the bottom of the 4 foot, by 4 foot by 4 foot pool, pumping to an upper level and re-circulating. An estimate of cost will be useful for someone living in a relatively high power cost district. Thanks.
