blahmeister77 asked:

I have a koi pond with a waterfall that shoots into the pond over a fake (styrofoam) rock background. The rock background is about 8′ tall, with styrofoam rocks anywhere from 1′ long to 3′ long. There are a couple problems. 1. A recent wind storm knocked some of the rocks off, they were replaced but look awful now. 2. The paint is coming off many rocks. We’ve tried replacing this with texture spray paint, but it keeps peeling off every time we turn the waterfall on. 3. We have a pool pump with 1 setting running the waterfall. The water comes out too hard, sprays everywhere rather than gently flowing into the pond. We’re lookin to replace this, but until we do we need a sturdy background that won’t fall apart and will direct the water down instead of out.

I need ideas on how to replace the rocks. I don’t want to spend lots of $. A 1-piece background would be preferable as opposed to many different pieces that need to be separately glued and screwed in.

asked:

My concrete, above ground fish pond/fountain is built on a solid concrete floor and concrete blocks with some sort of coating (I do not know if it is gunite or concrete). Since the pond was built it has had slow, drizzling leaks onto my patio. I have become confused on the best way to repair the leaks. I tried some type f asphalt roof coating, which did not work and have had to spend many hours of labor and several $’s in paint remover to remove the coating.
I found a websites that advertise Sani-tred pool coating, another advertising pool paint, another advertising Ultra Poly One Coat, another for Aqua-Plex, another for PVC liner, fiberglass, etc.
Does anybody have any suggestions for the best way for me to fix the leaks? The pond/fountain is 3 years old and has no visible cracks. It is 8′ x 8′ x 1.5′

Thank you.

Leisha

Bob N asked:

I am building a new pond, and soon after a pool, and want to make it out of concrete. I have previously used hydraulic cement to waterproof an older concrete pond but its a pain, expensive and hard to work with. I know concrete leaks water fairly fast through its porous nature. Scouring through the internet i have not found a simple way to waterproof concrete. So i need help
-Is there a cheap additive to waterproof concrete
-Would pool paint create a watertight barrier
-Is there a sealer that you add to the concrete while you mix it, or after it dries.
-Does drylok work, ive heard that it starts coming off after a few years, i want something that lasts 10+
-Is there a cement mix that is water proof and not too expensive as i plan to buy bulk cement and mix in the sand and aggregate.
If someone can answer my question it would be greatly appreciated.

Tad

Mountainous scenery, wintery scenery, flowering fields with back of woman and cottage in the background, barn on small pond scenery, and one other that I can’t remember. A few of them won best out of the whole class, voted on by some school members. I would love to get back into painting and have wanted to for some time now I just don’t know where to start.
Christmas is coming and my boyfriend’s (of 6 years) favorite tree is the weeping willow. I would love to paint him a black and white pic of one and I have actually found the picture I’d like to recreate on canvas for him.
What materials should I start with for this painting?
I’ll continue to get more supplies (paints, brushes) as time goes.

Roberto

R3 asked:

Hi, I have a concrete pond which is brick built on the outside and has a 3 inch concrete layer on the inside. The inside of the pond is then coated with a one inch plaster and then sealed with pond sealant paint. I’ve not had a problem with the pond until now – been fine for over 5 years. The outside of the pond is now leaking water through the brick mortar joint. Luckily it is only around the joint of a single brick but the water seepage is heavy. I have a lot of large Koi in the pond hence want to repair the pond as soon as possible. Is there anyway of sealing the pond at the point of seepage without removing the water? The water seepage is continuous so I need something which will act fast and dry quickly. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I can ultimately allow the water to leak out up until the point it stops however I am concerned that the issue will develop into a serious leak if not resolved asap. The pond is located in Coventry, UK.

Tamqrah
