I’ve heard it takes years for this to happen, but somehow they just “get there”. (Without there being any filtration systems that lead to other bodies of water where fish live.) How can they just appear in man made ponds out of no where?

A mudskipper is a fish that can come out of water and travel some distance to another pond.
